Technology Newsletters
Our Technology Newsletters present you with the latest information on key topics and solutions to challenging problems from the world of surface engineering. Always brief and to the point and based on practical experience in matters of deburring, grinding, smoothing and polishing.
April 2013: The new SF 3-200 Streamfinishing Machine
This new development of the company OTEC grinds and polishes work pieces especially well in areas, where conventional techniques like e.g. robots fail. Through the tremendous speeds of the grinding or polishing medium (up to 16 m/s), this machine is particularly suitable for processing of corners, recesses, grooves, etc..

July 2012: New Unisepa specially developed for separating bone plates
Bone plates of various sizes were with finished using a variety of ceramic media and then separated in the Unisepa separating unit. Previously, separation had been carried out by hand in a time-consuming process. The key design specification for this Unisepa unit was a separation rate of 95% for bone plates.

January 2012: Precise, even and fast finishing of taps and carbide drills in the SF machine
Obtaining an even finish when deburring taps and rounding cutting edges remains a major challenge, since protrusions such as the tooth crests of thread-cutting taps and the dead centers of twist drills, are considerably more rounded than the more deeply recessed areas. OTEC's process development department has carried out extensive tests using the new SF machines.

July 2011: New dry grinding media from OTEC
The new grinding medium from OTEC is suitable for the defined edge rounding of tools, in particular for cutting tools used with a cooling lubricant, since it prevents the cooling holes from becoming blocked. It can also used for grinding and smoothing high-quality workpieces such as watch cases.
