Technical workpieces made from ceramic materials are becoming more and more common. Because they are very hard and therefore resistant to wear, they are ideal materials for demanding workpieces such as antiscratch keys and buttons for mobile phones, surgical implants such as knee joints and hip balls and items such as watch cases and jewelry.

OTEC has developed a special mass finishing process for grinding zirconium dioxide ceramics and polishing them to a high shine. This process enables Ra values of up to 0.2 to be obtained and the surfaces of decorative parts can be polished ready for sale.
